Commission a Piece
I write for solo instrument up to chamber orchestra, for voice and opera.
For shorter, defined briefs — a 5–10 minute piece for solo instrument or small ensemble — I work to Musicians’ Union guideline rates as a starting point, with terms agreed before anything begins. A typical turnaround for a short solo piece is around three months from agreed brief to delivery; ensemble works take longer depending on forces and length.
I’ve worked within institutional commission structures before, including briefs with a fixed scope and budget. If you have a defined brief, send it across, along with anything you’d like me to consider — previous work, themes, or constraints — and I’ll respond with a clear proposal.
